Kinner Kailash Trek Information
Join us on a soul-stirring journey to the sacred Kinner Kailash Shivling, one of the five holy abodes of Lord Shiva, nestled deep in the heart of Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. Standing tall at 4,800 meters, the iconic 79-foot shivling is a spiritual marvel that draws spiritual seekers, trekkers, and storytellers alike.
Starting from the quiet village of Powari, this trek offers everything—from dense pine forests and high-altitude meadows to rocky climbs that test your limits. It’s challenging, yes—but deeply rewarding.
At Yaarana Adventures, we blend local knowledge, mountain safety, and warm community vibes to ensure your journey is not just about the summit, but the soul too. It’s not just a trek; it’s a pilgrimage, a personal challenge, and a journey inward. Most people return changed—more grounded, more grateful.

Best time to do the Kinner Kailash trek?
Ans: The ideal time is from mid-July to early September, during the annual Kinner Kailash Yatra. This is when the trail is accessible, snow has melted, and local support is available. Avoid trekking during winter or early spring due to heavy snow and high risk. At Yaarana Adventures, we suggest August, during Yatra, is the best time to do the Kinner Kailash Trek.
Is the Kinner Kailash Trek difficult?
Ans: Yes, it is considered a challenging to strenuous trek, especially due to steep ascents, loose scree sections, and high altitude. It’s recommended for trekkers with prior high-altitude experience and good physical fitness.
What is the difficulty level of the Kinner Kailash trek?
Ans: Kinner Kailash Trek is generally considered a difficult trek. Hence, 30-45 days of prior intense exercise/workout is a must! Walking for long distances with a heavy backpack is also an ideal way of preparing for the trek.
Who can participate in this trek?
Ans: We welcome all kinds of trekkers aged from 18 to 55 years. You should be able to walk 6-7 km daily and climb stairs without extreme exhaustion.
Bagpack Offloading available for this trek?
Ans: We suggest all trekkers opt for the Backpack Offloading/Porter Service for 4 Days during the trek. Porter Service: 1500 per day. The Porter also acts as an added guided backup.
What is the altitude gain per day?
Ans: Approx 1000m every day
What is the total trekking distance for the Kinner Kailash Shivling route and the Parikrama circuit??
Ans: Approx 19 to 20 km oneway.
Can beginners face Altitude Sickness?
Ans: Yes, since the altitude gain is quick. Staying hydrated and acclimatising properly helps. Hence, we have added an extra day at Powari.
Do I need trekking poles?
Ans: Yes, it is helpful for steep ascents and descents.
Are there rental options for gear?
Ans: No, please carry your gear or buy from Reckong Peo on Day 2.
